How do these baking soda/vinegar cleaning hacks work

You often see videos of people using baking soda, vinegar and boiling water to clean stains in the kitchen or the bathroom. From my understanding these ingredients should simply neutralise each other. So how does it help cleaning? Or is it simply a social media myth

they don’t. It’s for people who failed high school chemistry and are blown away by fizzy salt water. What they are marginally effective at is lifting a *small* amount of debris to possibly dislodge a small clog or some dirt that’s not embedded into the thing you’re cleaning.

I’ve been using baking soda for everything recently after watching a bunch of cleaning tiktoks and reels and looking at all the comments it seems I’ve been taken for a fool! Damn 😂

They don’t. People are daft. Urban myth.
The only thing that works about it is that baking soda is a mild abrasive so can be used for scrubbing. I
But if you want a mild abrasive, just use calciumcarbonate, cheaper than baking soda.
