I just drove through an area in Illinois with a lot of wind turbines. They’re not all oriented in the same direction. It looked like there was at least a 30 degree difference in the direction they were facing. How do they determine the orientation of each of them?
Each turbine has a wind anemometer on top that measures speed and wind direction. The turbine is then turned into the optimal position which can vary even in a small area.
