how do they get water and sewer up to remote homes that are high in the mountains?

Used to live in a remote mountain cabin. We had running water from a pipe that brought it in from the stream. That was only for shower and sink though. We had an incinolet (toilet which burns waste and blows it out the chiminea instead of flushing) so we didn’t need a sewer or septic tanks.
