I’m talking about the advertisements you find in magazines usually for a perfume or something. Do they mass print pages with perfume on them? Do they spray them individually after? How does it work that when you scratch it the odour comes off?

They spray the scent, then spray a protective layer on top. Then you scratch off the other layer revealing the scent.
It seems to be a rather complicated process, but basically, scented oil is encapsulated inside microscopic containers. This paste is smeared on a piece of paper and dried. When scratched, the containers break and the smell is let loose.
