Just like you can create a magnetic field with electricity and make a cilinder spin, you can reverse the process and spin a magnet to obtain electricity. So all you need is to find a force to spin the magnet, like water current in a river or wind blowing, to activate a turbine.

People are giving electric generation answers but a mill was a mill. You connect the wheel to a big round rock so when the water spins the wheel in makes the rock turn, then you put the grain under the rock so it crushes it up
