I don’t understand this question fully. Are you proposing cologne is different to a scent created for men? Or unisex scents? Perfume and colognes

Either way. Cologne used to be specific to where it came from(cologne)

However it has since become a generic marketing term to signify its intent for men. It is generally a weaker concentration than perfume. So is often a more subtle scent as well.

To tell the difference is a bit of a mute point, as the gender specific divide is arbitrary and subjective.

Simple: if it’s marketed as being for men, it’s for men. If it’s marketed as being for women, it’s for women. That’s it.
