Lightning is the usual suspect in a natural fire.

Of course a good percentage of lightning travels with a thunderstorm that puts out its own fires with a heavy drenching, but hot and dusty conditions can whip up an electrical storm that doesn’t bring any rain at all.

They’re quite the sight.

Dry, hot conditions can leave forest debris and undergrowth very dry. A lightning strike can set this tinder on fire, which then spreads wildly through the extremely dry underbrush.

Rock slides can cause a small amount of sparks when other rocks slam together and in the right conditions one tiny spark could cause a forest fire
