Hey hey! I actually did my graduate thesis on retail food sustainability labels. Seafood labels are generally quite good, with the exception of ‘dolphin friendly’ which means almost nothing relative to the others. Ocean Safe and Sea Choice are both pretty solid. Most retail food sustainability labels are mostly marketing mumbo jumbo but the ones we see for seafood are the exception and I personally look out for all of them because they DO actually indicate sustainable practices.
I did packaging for a seafood company and often times had to work with the sustainable vendor and the logo usage for their facility.
Now if you ask, most of this is a cash grab by whatever certification is on the bag, but the supplier I worked with used certifications that required the fish suppliers certification code on the logo, which could be looked up on the certifications website.
