A tube of some sort. It’s called an “intake” or “air intake”. My car is a pretty typical example. Its intake is a plastic funnel-like thing under the passenger headlight that directs air up through a filter that is nearby, just under the hood. From there it’s a 4 inch, maybe 10 cm, or so tube that crosses in front of the engine into the top-driver’s-side of the engine. Different versions of my car have a tube that starts in the same place, but goes around a different way. This accommodates different engines which are layed out in different ways.
