How does a forest grow under a sinkhole?

With the new sinkhole opening up in China revealing a huge underground forest I am curious to know how the plants are alive.
From what I understand off plant biology, which is not much, green plants have chlorophyll, which requires sunlight to do its thing. How are these surviving without sunlight before the sinkhole opens?

They have sunlight from the top of the sinkhole. The sinkhole is open at the top. It’s not much, but it’s enough to sustain properly adapted plants.

The sinkhole that’s getting all the press right now didn’t just open up, it’s been open for ages. What happened recently is that the first people managed to access the bottom and see what was down there.

This is different than a cave with zero sunlight…that cannot support plants (it can support life but they have to be getting their energy from something other than sunlight).
