How does Anti-venom for snakebites work?

Growing up, I always thought someday I might be bitten by a poisonous snake (or encounter quick sand as well 😂) and I would read about how people would harvest snake venom in a lab or zoo to create anti-venom- to this day I don’t understand the process- can someone explain?

They’ll inject non lethal doses of the actual venom into large mammals (typically horses).

The plasma in their blood is then harvested and the antibodies (kind-of like little soliders) are extracted to form the antivenom shot.

Ever heard “the dose makes the poison”, well a horse somewhere in the world had to suffer 3 days of discomfort to synthesise the army of microbes used that saved your butt.
