How does Blackrock work?

As the title suggests I would like to know how a company like Blackrock works and how it makes money

It’s an asset management company. It invests in business (buys and sells shares), bonds, real estate and other assets at a low price, and sells it at a higher price. It does this for lots of folks, so it’s basically managing other people’s money, and taking a commission (usually a small percentage of the assets managed) for itself.
