How does depression “suck out” your energy?

A person can do push ups multiple times, but a cripplingly depressed person can barely lift their arm. Why? Is it like like adrenaline but backwards?

Mental and physical health are tied closely together. Remember that movement and arousal originates in the brain. Depression is incredibly draining, to the point that anyone that hasn’t experienced it cant understand. Depression can also be due to low Serotonin levels, one of the neurotransmitters tied to enjoyment and arousal.
