If you headbutt forehead to forehead, it’s gonna be the same for both.

You’re supposed to try and headbutt something breakable like the nose. The “breaking” absorbs the energy that would be transferred back to you.

The point of a headbutt is to hit someone’s face with your forehead, because the forehead is much harder and is not covered in soft tisue. If you hit someone’s mouth, nose, even the cheeks or the eyebrows, you can cause a lot of damage by hitting something softer with something harder.

Headbutting is a subtle art. To most it appears as simply butting your forehead against someone else’s but that usually ends up as bad for the head butter as it does for the head butt-ee. The point of a headbutt is to aim for the face, ideally the nose.

Trust me, a headbutt does hurt you.

But it does not hurt as much as ol mate Johnnys nose hurts after you connect and he is spraying harder than a garden sprinkler.

You missing a lot of context but general aim is to use your forehead (which is tough, strong, durable and has few nerves) to smash oppobent nose ( which is squishy, has a tons of nerves and a lot of nearly exposed blood vessels)
