How does holding a remote (for your car or motorised gate) to your head increase the range at which it works?

I’ve heard two reasons:

1. it’s not so much holding to your head, as it is turning it sideways (like instead of face up, it’s face to the side) and has Something to do with the radio frequency it sends.

2. Your head/body is a conductor and basically amplifies the rf signal.

But I never did actually find the answer sadly
