Had to do a bit of reading for this. Snake Venom MetalloProteinases (SVMPs) trigger clotting. The clots can cause strokes or heart attacks if they block circulation.

SVMPs can also use up all your clotting factor leaving you vulnerable to bleeding out internally or externally anywhere you have a tear in a vein or artery. Without clotting minor damage to the circulatory system that would normally self-repair is now a path for blood to leak out and if there is enough pressure it could make the tear bigger speeding up the bleeding.
