Basically, what is it about mint that gives our breath a nice smell? We see this is gum, breath mints, toothpaste, mouthwash… I read that mint neutralizes odors, but it also seems to have it’s own pleasant smell. What is it about mint that is so fresh and clean?
We have just associated the taste and smell of mint equating to breath being good

Mint has menthol. It feels cool (the same way peppers feel hot, except it chemically affects our sense of cold instead of our sense of heat) and smells nice. Nice and strong odors can mask unpleasant odors.
