How does Netflix acquire its content and how do they make money off of it?

The primary way they get their content is by buying it from other companies. They also pay production companies to make content specifically for them, and sometimes by their own studio. The shows they have made for them are labeled ‘Netflix Originals’.
They make money by selling subscriptions. You need to buy a subscription to watch their content. At the end of 2020 they had just over 200 million subscribers.
They purchase streaming rights for most of it. They also have their own content. They make money off of subscription fees.
