How does one go about the process of copyrighting something, like a design?

I’ve designed a toy I’d like to see about being protected by copyright, but I don’t know how to go about it, and looking things up has just left me with more questions than answers. I’m from Canada, if that helps.

Go to your country’s government website and find the correct department. You can usually register a copyright for a design online for a nominal fee.
