I’ve designed a toy I’d like to see about being protected by copyright, but I don’t know how to go about it, and looking things up has just left me with more questions than answers. I’m from Canada, if that helps.

There’s an application process, but if you want a reasonable chance of not only successfully patenting something but also being able to defend it then you should speak with a lawyer.
