How does poison and antidotes even work? are we just canceling out the poison with something else?

the idea of most antivenoms/poison counters is built on the idea that you understand what the toxin in question is doing in the body.

by knowing htis you can then attemt to engineer a compound that either:

– Neutralizes the toxin;
– prevents the toxin from doing what it needs ot do in the body;
– binds with the toxin into a form that can just be excreted out;
– Prevents the toxin from being metabolized(this is due ot some of them not being dangerous on their own but the reaction inside the body changes the minot somethnig dangerous)
