How does posting quality content attract viewers/followers/etc, when you have no viewers/followers/etc in the first place?

this might sound like a stupid question but i never really got this

Lets say you’re a channel on youtube with 0 subscribers and your videos average like 2 views, if you all of a sudden started posting top quality content, how exactly would that get you more viewers if you’re getting no viewers to start with? i mean those couple people who saw your video might come back but theres no magnet thats on your video attracting people once the quality of the video raises.

And this isnt just about youtube, im relating this to everything. I’m pretty sure theres a quote about this but I cant think of it.

It doesn’t. Quality content helps with retention, not acquisition. There is two part to producing entertainment. First, you need to bring people to you. Second, you need to keep them. Quality can only help you keep them.

Keeping them is important, because to some extent, the viewer themselves can become a marketing campaign. If they like what you do, they’ll refer to you.

TL:DR quality stuff doesn’t help attract. It help keep.

Quality content is only part of the equation. You still have to promote. If you have no subscribers on YouTube, leverage your other social channels. Post on IG. Twitter. Here on Reddit.

You have to let people know that you make videos. Waiting for them to stumble upon your videos is the wrong approach. Be proactive.

Maybe try to join other YouTubers, like collaborate with them, then if they like you, you might get more subs.
Then always try to collaborate with bigger YouTubers, maybe even try to set up a stream?

Someone once said the youtube algorithms liked 3 ten minute videos per day.

Also use lots of tag words.
