how does remembering super far back memories work?

I dont know, if i even worded this right.

But i have this recurring memory(flashback?) Of the ONE time i went to speech therapy when i was like 4 or 5.

I cant even remember what i ate last week but i remember this vividly as if it just happened but its been 11 or 12 years.

How does that work? Why does this happen?

They say that farther back events seem more significant because you have lived less life, like if you are 2 a year is half your life, but if you’re 10 a year is 1/10th, so events will meld together more as you get older because the time scale seems less significant.

I can vividly remember going to the dentist to have a tooth removed when I was young, I can remember waking up and being told to walk across the room and this one older girl fell over. The journey home was quite vivid as well even though it happened over 30 years ago, must of given me some strong meds.
