How does the ADS like the TRADE aim to produce energy from and reduce the amount of nuclear waste

I’ve been reading about how Accelerator Driven System
xs could be used to process nuclear waste and obtain energy from it.
Specially the porject TRIGA Accelerator-Driven Experiment. But i have been unable to understand how the concept works.
