How does the climate work close to the equator?

If you walk across the equator, into the Southern Hemisphere, does it suddenly become the summer?

the tropics have their own climate, it’s always warm and summer like between 23N and 23S. the seasons exist beyond those regions. that’s why people in the northern US and Canada like to visit Mexico in the winter, it’s still warm and summer-like because it’s closer to the equator.
