How does the lungs know which is O2 and CO2? We breathe a ton of different gasses daily but what happens to the other gases other than O2 and CO2 when inhaled?

I’m not smart enough to explain it to you super well but gas goes into the lungs and oxygen is attracted to hemoglobin in the blood. Other gases are not attracted to hemoglobin and therefore can’t pass through the membrane into your blood. I can’t remember how your lungs get fill with the CO2 you breathe out tho
