The triangle offence runs through the team’s Center and focuses around getting open opportunities for other members of the team to get to the basket. It de-emphasizes the 3pt shot which has been shown in the modern game to be crucially important.
So there are two theories as to why the Triangle has fallen off
1) In it’s heyday, nobody focused on the 3pt shot as a center to their gameplan. Analytics demonstrated its relative value and teams adapted
2) It was never a good strategy, it just worked because they had Michael Jordan and Kobe/Shaq on its two most prevalent teams that used it
