Sometimes when sedimentary rocks are being formed the water bubbles in between the layers of rhe rocks which are to be formed get trapped under immense pressure due to the pressure they can’t escape and get trapped also sometimes there can be cracks in a rock not big ones but tiny microscopic fissures water can seep into these cracks and due to some reaction like quicklime reacting with water to close up the cracks.

This is incredibly complex and requires a knowledge of how water exists and forms under different pressure systems. An ELI5 would take an eternity. So if you’re interested pbs eons episode “where did water come from?” Is a good place to start even if it’s only tangentially related.
