Burning, or rather combustion, is a specific chemical reaction which produces certain by products. Heating something up using electricity without it combusting into flames is a different reaction which produces different by products. Sure we say in both cases the material is “burned” but there’s actually distinct differences of the processes taking place.
It’s also important to note that when you burn a cigarette you’re using fire to burn a paper, with dried tobacco inside and a filter at the end, whereas in an e-cig you’re heating up a liquid with a copper coil, some cotton, encassed in glass, and with no fire involved. So it’s not just about how you’re burning something but what you’re burning.
I think though that the most important thing here is the “healthier” bit. A lot of the health claims of e cigarettes stem mainly from lack of research compared to research done on traditional cigarettes rather than concrete proof that it is healthier. It might be healthier than a cigarette but it’s definitely not harmless, but e cig companies are relying a lot on pushing this narrative currently while there’s still not enough research on the subject. If you ask me maybe the anti freeze is not so bad to smoke but heating up metals and inhaling them is probably not good.
