Just saw that guardians 3 earned $289.3 million worldwide during its opening weekend, and I’m confused by the following:
– every cinema gets a cut no doubt, how much of the ticket sale goes to the movie maker?
– how do they find out the ticket sales of every cinema worldwide within a couple of days?

Having worked in theaters, the ticket sale breakdown isn’t straight forward.
For opening weekend through X days after release, 80-90% of ticket sales go to the studios. This gradually lowers based on performance and other contractual factors.
As far as tracking it within a few days, verything is digitally tracked and reported. It is as simple as filling out a form/sending an email to the studios with the sales figures.
