How exactly do they calculate box office sales worldwide?

Just saw that guardians 3 earned $289.3 million worldwide during its opening weekend, and I’m confused by the following:

– every cinema gets a cut no doubt, how much of the ticket sale goes to the movie maker?
– how do they find out the ticket sales of every cinema worldwide within a couple of days?

Cinema gets about 40% from ticket sale…. They make most money on popcorn and other stuff

And why is it calculated so precisely? Film makers are interested in keeping track of their money 😉 Disney won’t let a cent slip haha
