Trauma gets stored in a different part of the brain because your brain thinks of the incident as a life or death thing so it’s remembering a survival skill versus like tiring your shoes which is just a normal skill. So babies instinct is to cry when they need help. Babies stop crying when they learn it doesn’t get them help.
Trauma floods the brain with adrenaline and cortisol. So chemicals. A baby’s brain is being built and all those chemicals change how it is built. Happy feelings also generate chemicals that can change how the brain is built but in a good way.
Babies don’t remember the trauma. But it leaves a sort of scar that changed things and doesn’t go away.
