If you’re asking how we know, most countries will conduct surveys to find out what resources they have in their land. They then usually brag about it to drum up investment in the resources so that they can develop them and make money from them.
If you’re asking how each country gets the resources it has, that’s just luck; they happen to form the country over the resource-rich area. Or they invaded another country and stole their resource-rich areas.
