Hello, I am a psychologist but not a neurologist, so I might be out of my depth. However, what I know about this subject is that mirror image agnosia is a perceptual disorder in which the person does not recognize reflections/thinks that reflections are actually in the mirror. Someone with this condition can’t tell when something is a reflection vs. “real.” The might think a reflection is something they could reach out and grab. It’s linked to parietal lobe damage.
With mirror image misidentification, I understand it more as a delusional disorder. One can’t recognize one’s self in the mirror, for example, or thinks they are another person.
