Petroleum jelly is the last product of the refining process of oil and gas. The final products of the process form a kind of sludge. If we process this sludge with some filters and solvents we remove the solids and other chemicals responsible for its strong odors, and were left with a thick waxy jelly substance that is white petroleum jelly.
