How my (2021 model) car knows the speed limit

Dashboard navigation systems also know the posted speed limit of the road they are in. Your phone’s GPS knows this as well.
It knows where it is with the GPS system. It has a map of where you are driving which includes the speed limits.
A lot of modern cars can also see the speed limit posts. Having said that, don’t always believe what the car thinks the speed limit is. Mine at least sometimes gets it wrong.
Some modern cars use an optical system – there is a small camera unit behind the rear view mirror that scans the road ahead and is able to spot signs as they approach. That can then be interpreted and displayed for the driver.
Other systems are also based on GPS systems pre-programmed with this information – if it knows which road you are on, then it can tell you what the speed limit is.
My car does the same I assume it uses the radar for the auto braking to read the signs aswell but im just guessing. What I really want to know is how the auto dip lights work.
