It makes things look more alive without doing more complex animation. If you don’t squiggle the lines then something that isn’t animated wouldn’t move at all making it look unnatural, so you’d need to add actual movement to make it look better, and that is a lot of work and requires thinking what kind of movement the thing would naturally do.
Same reason why lots of early 3D videogame characters were rocking up and down all the time. Otherwise they’d look frozen
Maybe you are thinking of drawing more drawings than necessary, but most squiggle vision would be just an effect added to one drawing.
