how/why can humidity be low in an area that’s right next to an ocean?

Well, even though the ocean is a large source of moisture, low humidity can occur if the air currents are moving away from the ocean or if there are dry winds blowing in from inland areas. So, just because you’re close to the ocean doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have high humidity!
