I don’t quite understand the concept of botulism. I’ve googled it but anytime someone mentions it I’m confused all over again. My best understanding is that it’s food poisoning but I feel like it’s more complex than that

Botulism refers to the condition (a specific type of food poisoning) you get as a result of ingesting botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is produced by the botulinum bacteria which is really hard to kill. As a result of this it can be present in improperly preserved canned or jarred food.
