I went to a concert at a venue that also hosts Ice Hockey games. My sister in law asked a question I have no answer to. How is the floor (which functioned basically as a mosh pit) transform into an ice rink? I know that there are mats taken up, but how is water/ice installed? How is it then brought to ice temperature? How long does it take?

There’s refrigerant lines running through the floor that freeze the ice. They install the ice with hoses layer by layer. For hockey they put down a thin layer of water, let it freeze then paint it and then add more water to finish the ice surface.
