If alcohol is so effective at killing bacteria/viruses, why isn’t it used more often in medication?

Easiest way I can think to explain….So there are LOTS of things that kill bacteria and viruses…..many of those also kill YOUR cells indiscriminately. So you want something that kills the “not you” stuff and leaves your cells alone. Enter antibiotics and antivirals.
