If I moved a bird that migrates to its destination, would it know?

Would it recognize that it’s where it was heading to or would it be confused and fly in the direction it’s used to trying to find it’s destination?

We aren’t entirely sure how birds navigate, but the leading theory is that they have magnets in their head and can feel the Earth’s magnetic field, and that’s how they know how yo head north or south.

They also use visual cues to not get stuck over the ocean and to return to places they have been before

They’ll know. Messenger birds are locked in cages during transport, and find their way back home in a heartbeat. Migrations are no different.

I once had a Peregrine falcon that was injured due to a territory dispute during breading season.   After it was rehabilitated it was dropped off 150 miles away.   Two days later it was found injured back at the original spot.
