If Ozempic and similar drugs just make you feel fuller faster, how will it not force your metabolism to crash like any other highly-restrictive diet?

Ozempic is not a weight loss drug although it is used by people for that purpose.

Ozempic is a diabetes drug the reduces glucose levels by stimulating insulin secretion. It is the reduction in glucose levels that result in weight loss and why “healthy” people are using it to lose weight.

As far as we can tell, it does. The drugs’ own studies cited that people regain most (at least 75%) of the weight once they stop using it.

The drugs were meant to be permanent, even under their FDA approval for obesity. Not one-time diet drugs.

Ozempic is a GLP-1 medication (ultimately derived from lizard spit). Researchers noticed that lizards have a very long digestive time.

Apart from stimulating pancreas, it also suppresses appetite and lowers blood sugars, my Hba1c while using it has hit 54 mmol/mol (6.9% dcct). A healthy person can have a Hba1c up to 42 mmol/mol (6.0% dcct)

As a T2 diabetic my doctor said she’s happy for me to stay on for rest of life.

The research for weight loss found that 24 months is the sweet spot for max weight loss at minimum cost. Basically 24 months of appetite suppression

Say you ingest 2400 calories per day. On Ozempic you can get by on 1600-1800 calories per day.

No brain fog. No risk of calorie deficit. Also it’s a weekly injection. You can probably come off it easily enough.
