Sunscreen doesn’t reflect the sun rays away, it absorbs them. [Here’s a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgcR_-_I514) that explains it.

Just like you can have red tinted glasses (they only let red through, they block (are black to) all other colors), you can have a paste that’s transparent to visible light but black to ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet is just a frequency of light.
