If sinuses are within the bone of your skull, why does facial massage seem to loosen up congestion in your sinuses?

I understand massage for muscle issues, but I don’t understand why cavities within bone (sinuses) are affected.

The nose is only a tiny bit bone the rest is flexible cartilage which can easily be moved around by a massage.
