If the universe is expanding and the distances of each galaxies get larger over time then why is our own galaxy (Milkyway) will collide with another galaxy (Andromeda) in the future?
Same way your car can hit another one: they’re moving at each other faster than the space between them is increasing in size.
Astrophysics is talked about at things of huge scale, but for truly universal things like expansion it can be helpful to make things more down to earth.
