If there are billions of transistors in a CPU, there is no chance that somebody designed every single one of them manually. Is their layout calculated or something?

Try this… You start designing a computer from a set of relays, and (even though you’re not even close to modern cpus) end up with hundreds of transitors just by using a previously made part as a single unit.
