If there is no sound in space does that mean stars are silent?

I did Google this a bit and understand that sounds needs a medium to travel.

So if we could hypothetically stand in the surface of the sun would we hear nothing?

If two asteroids collided would it be completely silent?

You can’t stand on the surface of a star, or a gas giant, because it is gas and too thin. As you go in, you can hear sound, through the gas, just like in Earth’s atmosphere.
