If there is no sound in space does that mean stars are silent?

I did Google this a bit and understand that sounds needs a medium to travel.

So if we could hypothetically stand in the surface of the sun would we hear nothing?

If two asteroids collided would it be completely silent?

Two asteroids colliding make no sound. But stars have an atmosphere, depending on your definition of the “surface” the sun makes sound.
