The changes you make to your body aren’t going to carry down to your children – you could be a full-time body builder but if your kids never work out and get into that lifestyle they will grow up to have… the body based on the genes they get from their parents.

The middle part of your question has no relationship to the start and end.

If you’re skinny, will your kids be skinny: to the extent skinniness is a genetic condition they might. It would also depend on your partner. Your approach to life (healthy eating, exercise etc) would also presumably affect them as they are part of your daily activities.

What muscle and weight you gain has no bearing on your genes, and isn’t inheritable.

The other comments are mostly right, but not entirely.

No matter what you do, your genetics won’t change, that much is true. But your epigenetics (which genese are turned on or off and how strong they are) *can* change. And epigenetics can also be passed down.

But in regards to skinniness, lifestyle choices like diet and exercise are much more impactful than genetics or epigenetics.

Genetics ain’t care what you do with your body. If you cut off one of your arms, your kids will (probably) be born with two arms.
